The White Nile Coffee Project is situated in one of the most remote areas of Uganda, up on the North West of the country, close to the border of the Democratic Republic of
Congo. The people in this part of Uganda rely heavily on coffee as a cash crop – there is a long tradition of subsistence farming here.
It is a triumph that since its inception in 1998, the amount of farmers affiliated with this project has grown by over 500% with over 6000 farmers now growing Okora Washed Arabica.
Cupping Profile for this coffee: A superb heavy bodied, low acidity coffee. It is silky smooth, with notes of chocolate, hazelnut and black berry like characteristics. It is perfect as an Aeropress, filter coffee or any other brewing method.
- The average farm size is +-2000 hectares
- The project lies on the West Nile province of Uganda at an altitude of 1.450 – 1800 meters.
- The main season starts from early October and runs thru to the end of March early April
